Endowment Association Amber Gallery 'Eridanos' Ribnitz-Damgarten For the second time an Amber Artwork Prize will be awarded by the German Amber Museum Ribnitz-Damgarten. In 1999 the first international amber competition for many years was held in Germany, an event to be repeated in 2006 with the aim of spurring the creation of new contemporary works on the theme ' Jewellery and Amber'. The International Amber Artwork Prize will be awarded for pieces of the following kind: jewellery. The prize is endowed with a total of €6,000. The three main prizes awarded are of the following sums: €2,500 / €2,000 / €1,500. The International Amber Artwork Prize is sponsored by the German Amber Museum Ribnitz-Damgarten. Pieces submitted may be realised using any of the available methods of working amber. This encompasses amber left in its natural state and amber which has been worked on, äs well äs amber used with other precious and non-precious materials. Amber should be the primary material. Prizes will be awarded by an international panel of experts. The panel will meet at the German Amber Museum Ribnitz-Damgarten at 5pm on Saturday 6th May 2006. Together with the prize awards on 27th May 2006, an exhibit displaying the award winning pieces and other works chosen by the panel will be opened in the German Amber Museum Ribnitz-Damgarten. The German Amber Museum plans to purchase pieces to the total value of €20,000. The required application for participation must be received by 28th April 2006 at the latest. The international panel of experts will make a selection of submitted pieces for a special exhibition to be held at the German Amber Museum Ribnitz-Damgarten for 5 months following the prize awards.
